
I’m a New York–based film producer, writer, and editor focused on independent film and experimental media.I’m president and a producer at Forensic Films, the production company I founded in 1995 with Robin O’Hara. Our films have premiered at Sundance, Cannes, Berlin, Venice, and Telluride, and have been released by Universal Pictures, HBO, Netflix, Sony Pictures Classics, Bleecker Street, MUBI and Strand Releasing. Producing credits include The Assistant, Casting JonBenet, What Happened Was…, Saving Face, Idlewild, A Woman, A Part, Raising Victor Vargas and, most recently, The Fall of Sir Douglas Weatherford.I’m currently producing projects in the U.S. and internationally and consulting on film journalism and editorial strategy.I co-founded Filmmaker Magazine in 1994 and served as its Editor-in-Chief for 33 years. There, I edited the magazine and website, wrote its weekly newsletter, and created the annual “25 New Faces” series, which is a widely followed platform for identifying emerging filmmakers.I began my career at The Kitchen in New York, where I was Programming Director, curating and producing five seasons of performance and theater.I’ve also been a mentor and advisor at the Sundance Institute, The Gotham (formerly IFP), CPH:LAB, the Dubai International Film Festival and the Venice Biennale College.
